FACTS TO KNOW:
Jumpstarts and Battery Assistance
COMMON QUESTIONS WE HEAR EVERY DAY:
AND WHY YOU SHOULD READ THIS.
If you're finding yourself asking these questions, maybe you should call Rescue to diagnose and solve your problem today!
Why won't my car start?
Why is my battery dead?
Do I have a paracitical power drain?
If I charge it will it hold a charge?
Do I need a new battery?
Or do I need a starter?
Can I trust it to start again after I turn it off, or will I need it serviced?
And, who can help me quickly and easily, NOW?!
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Briefly... Two things kill batteries... Heat & Cold.
Unfortunately... Houston has both.
Chances are, if you're needing a jumpstart, your battery's capacity has deminished significantly.Your battery is nearing the end of its expected life cycle. (No they don't last forever.)
Even if your car starts now, doesn't mean it's going to start again.
Most Lead-Acid Batteries have a life expectancy of approximately...
3 years... more or less. Depending on how heavy the useage is, they can wear out even faster if you're doing a lot of constant driving, especially under harsh or extreme driving conditions in
Houston Texas heat... second to none... will certainly expedite the process.
Just imagine how HOT it really is under the hood with a hot engine, in Houstons HEAT after being dogged ALL summer long.
(You know who you are.)
That's your Battery's living conditions.
Winters... are cold enough.
The problem with winters: One of the times when we also see an up-tick in battery volume, around the first cold snap, is... electricity doesn't conduct as well in cold and cold creates resistance in electrical flow. The colder it gets, the more the resistance.
Welcome to Ohms Law.
When Batteries have been put through a long hot summer under heavy duress, they're just a bit weaker, still got enough power to make it till the cold snap, and then that's when the lack of good conductivity crosses, a lack of the acidic electrolyte solution in your low battery that it needs to perform because... running it all summer, some of that H2O in the battery evaporated, coupled with, the processs of producing ElectroChemical Energy is, it slowly discharges Hydrogen Gas.
(The H in H2O) needed for the Acidic Electrolyte Solution, it depletes, then, disaster strikes.
Now your resistance has gone up and your power output capacity has dropped. So now you need 25% more power to overcome the resistance from the cold, but now you've got 25% less power to do it with. So that ='s to a 50% swing in the other direction. That's why lead-acid batteries go dead without any warning signs. You think they're fine because they've been doing fine, BUT, they do have an expected life span, and they don't tell you they're about on the verge of croaking cuz you're Mr. Ben'Jammin LeadFooter.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Schedule your Roadside Assistance Service Call today with who the pros call... RESCUE... of course! We will come to you, give you a jumpstart, get you going again, load test your battery, and tell you if its time for a new battery... BEFORE you get stranded... AGAIN!!!
Or if you just need a jumpstart because you left your lights on... that's fine too.
If it turns out its time for a new battery, we can service your needs today. Save the headache, time, tow truck, and trip to the mechanic waiting on everyone else to open in the middle of the night when you have to be at work tomorrow morning.
Rescue is open 24/7 for your convienence.
HERE IS WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO:
First... Go look at your battery. Don't see any vent caps to pop off because it's supposed to be "MAINTENANCE FREE"?
IT'S A GIMIC!
Just because it says it's "MAINTAINENCE FREE", doesn't mean it doesn't need maintenance! It just means you can't maintain it when it needs it! And when it dies, you have to buy a new one!
Give it to the Battery companies... "BRILLIANT" Advertising!
They only get paid when you buy a battery! And the more the better!
If they wanted you to have a better Battery, they would have given you one! We on the other hand, want you to have GOOD one.
What can they say?
They're in the Battery Manufacturing Business?
Why we don't even mess with that nonsense!
When you get a Battery from Rescue, it's our idea of what a good battery is supposed to be with pleny of cranking amps and reserve capacity, and the ability to service it. Would you buy a gasoline powered vehicle with no way to put gas in it? NOPE...
WHY YOU NEED TO DO IT NOW!
The FATE of all Lead-Acid Batteries -
The process of generating and storing electricity in lead acid batteries is really a electro/chemical process, and when your battery is low or out of the chemicals needed for the production and storage of electricity, it can't make it.
Since part of the process of producing chemical electricity is, it discharges hydrogen, and as part of the chemical charging process,
eventually the Hydrogen depletes, and that is part of the H2O. When enough of the water eventually depletes, the sulfuric acid remains but the water in it evaporates and the Sulfuric Acid changes to Sulfuric Sulfate and cakes to the lead plates inside the battery.
Sulfuric Sulfate does NOT conduct electricity and also causes resistance. So now when you lose half your power, now you have to overcome twice the resistance with only half the power you had before!
That's why they just go out without warning.... Now you know.
The technical term is the battery has become sulfated because the electrolyte solution has now depleted.
Eventually they become weaker and weaker until disaster strikes at the worst time and place and your stranded somewhere in the middle of the night in a rain storm when power consumption is heavier than normal. Windshield Defogger going, Headlights burning, radios on, windshield wipers wiping, and the A/C blasting, large electrical battery draw from starters, and all the different multiple computer control modules in cars today puts a heavy loads on your electrical system and your battery. And that's all before the engine even makes the spark to ignite the gas! So getting an even better battery is very important... and also the reason you're sitting on the side of the road now!
At Rescue, we don't make you pay double the price for the warranty. You just pay for the battery you need and you don't have to worry about the warranty. When it needs servicing you can service it. Would you rather have a spare tire, or tires that don't go flat??? When they make you buy the warranty, you've already buying the spare but they don't give it to you! And usually the warranty goes out right before it dies, or they pro-rate it and it ain't worth $%!^. And you're STILL going to pay full price for the new one!... Well I guess they won?
Maybe I SHOULD start selling warranties??? Nah...
